CSX: Running the Rochester Sub
Part of the Chicago Line and the Water Level Route, CSX's Rochester Sub stretches between Syracuse and Buffalo in New York state. This is a very busy line carrying traffic between the Midwest and the Eastern Seaboard. A fleet of intermodals, autoracks, merchandise trains, and Amtrak make for plenty of action giving the line up to 60 trains a day. Narration gives location and train symbols.

Hiking Horseshoe: NS on the East Slope
The tough grades and natural beauty of the 3-track mainline over the Allegheny divide is the subject of this film. Shot between Fall 2004 and Summer 2006, this is the 12 miles of railroad tucked away on the hillsides of the Allegheny Mountains between Altoona and Gallitzin. You're in the woods, on the hillsides, and on the cliffs to see NS move their trains up and over the mountain. We packed up and hiked in over five different days to get shots of the remote locations not often seen. We dealt with very hot and dry weather in the Summer and plenty of mountain hiking. But lots of trains, lots of power, great helper action, tight curves and heavy grades made it all worth it! Narration gives location and train symbols.

Snakes in the Alleghenies: NS on the Pittsburgh Line
With footage from Summer 2006 and a bit from Fall 2004, this DVD shows the the fast action we saw over a total of seven days on three seperate trips to the area. The throttle is wide open in notch 8 for trains making the 98-mile run between Harrisburg and Altoona in the Allegheny Mountains. Norfolk Southern really pushes the Middle Division with train after train and there aren't many quiet times on this line. We found out that lush woods, little towns, lots of trains, and scenic locations really do make this line a stand out for railfanning. Narration gives location and train symbols.

CSX on the Mohawk Raceway
Between 60-70 trains a day make CSX's Chicago Line line nearly as busy as the BNSF transcon across the Southwest desert! And the Mohawk Sub is a real raceway for trains running between Selkirk Yard and Dewitt yard near Syracuse, New York. This DVD includes footage from each season between Summer 2004 and Summer 2006 including some nice Winter action. CSX keeps this line busier than it has been in years and our cameras caught the wide array of power and foreign colors that ply this piece of railroad - Western Class 1 colors can often be seen leading trains across the subdivision. Narration gives location and train symbols.

End of an Era: EMDs on the D&H
SD-40-2s are making their last appearances on the Delaware and Hudson as the newer General Electric AC4400CWs are becoming the main movers over the line. Although SDs can still be seen on the line from time to time, no one can say when the last of them will run and we wanted to make sure we caught the EMDs doing the work. The action centers around CP's hub at Binghamton, NY and follows train out over Belden Hill and south to the Nicholson Viaduct. Fans of the D&H and/or EMDs will love the sound of the engines pulling merchandise north and south over Belden Hill and into the Tunnel. Filming for this DVD spans the time between Fall 2004 and Summer 2006, and narration gives location and train symbols.

Operarations on the NYS&W
Railfanning the NYS&W is like a step back in time; sectional rail, older power, and friendly train crews. See trains in and around the city of Binghamton and tackling Gulf Summit on the ex-Erie Southern Tier, through scenic upstate New York locations and along the Delware River. You'll be trackside as a couple of NYS&W crews switch industries and make up trains. Seeing a train during daylight hours on this section of railroad can be tough. We bided our time and were rewarded with some daylight runs up and over Gulf Summit and across the Starrucca Viaduct. When filming the office car special, we had to do it in pouring rain - fine with us! This DVD includes footage from Summer 2004 - November 2006. Narration tells the stories that are taking place, but is kept to a minimum.

Q-Trains on the "Susie Q"
What do you do if you’re a big Class 1 railroad and major trackwork or a derailment shuts down one of your main arteries? If you’re CSX in New York State, you send trains over the New York, Susquehanna, and Western railroad. NYS&W provides the crews and CSX provides the power to keep trains moving. In this DVD, two mile long CSX freights, high-priority stack trains, and empty auto racks rumble over the “Susie Q” in rarely-seen action. Trains on Gulf Summit put on a show that never gets old. Another bonus? You'll see a wide variety of NYS&W's vintage power in this video helping out with the increased freight duties. Narration and/or subtitles identify each location, and train symbols are given when known.
This DVD was our first release and was filmed between Spring 2004 and Spring 2006.
